contacted the facilities headquarters in campbell. we are told they had no comment. faces felony charges with the case and two other alleged victims. jury selection began in federal court today in the trial of a former san francisco. prosecutors say that debra madden stole cocaine from the lab's drug analysis back in 2009. she faces a federal charge of obtaining cocaine by means of fraud or deception. the led to the closure of police crime lab and the dismissal of hundreds of criminal cases. its convictions could face up to four years in prison. happening now, san francisco's police chief is meting with community members to discuss last week's police shooting in the mission district. it's the second of two scheduled for today. this morning residents shared their frustration. they're not upset about last tuesday's shooting as much as they are dismayed with the protests and vandalism that followed. >> thinks that policemen and absolutely no arrests, this is unbelievable. how do you think the rest of us

feel who live in the neighborhood. >> thursday's shooting happened after officers say they arrested a suspected gang member who pulled an assault pistol. the suspect is in the hospital in fair can't. it happened about 1:00 a.m. near the bart station. officers say they were searching for a man following an early shooting at nearby early bird lounge when they spotted the suspect's car. according to investigators, the driver put the car in reverse and started coming toward the officer. that's when they opened fire killing na at the number ofeased his officer-involved shootings in parts of bay area today, san francisco had 15 shootings in 2010, eight last year and six altercations so far this year. in san jose there were four shootings in 2010 compared to eight last year and three so far this year. in vallejo the numbers went down from three in 2010 to two last year and then shot up to seven

this year. oakland finished fourth they had shootings in 2010, five last year and three so far this year. . a south bay elementary school principal is behind bars tonight for selling drugs to an undercover officer. robert honda has new details for the principal's first court appearance. >> 42-year-old eric dean louis appeared subdued in the courtroom this afternoon. the principal in montague elementary school in santa clara faces drug charges. louis was arrested at this caltrain station in san francisco thursday afsh. investigators say he had arranged to meet what turned out to be an undercover agent contacted through a dating web site. a search here at louis's san francisco apartment turned up a quarter ounce of meth amphetamine and the other drug. then agents came to the school and seized the principal's computer. >> i think it's very difficult. it's very shocking. it's a very sad time for the school. >> parents who taught were also

shot. louis was principal here for only seven years, seemed popular and ironically set up anti-drug programs. most parents were informed by a letter from the school. >> we were really quite disappointed because mr. louis is quite respected here. >> the prosecutor says there is no indication any children were involved and louis has no prior criminal record but in court prosecutor argued louis should not be released on his own recognizance because he lives outside santa clara county and investigators are concerned louis might use drug money for bail. >> we want to make sure that any money coming into secure habds is from proper source sdmrs so while bail is set at $25 thushgs, louis will remain in jail while his funds are checked. louis returns to court friday. ktvu channel 2 news. happening now about a hundred people have gathered where government officials and chevron providing community residents with an update on the refinery fire last month. the public meeting started about an hour ago. officials from the epa, contra

costa health, emergency services are speaking and chevron representatives will be feelgd questions. police say they hope to learn more about the fire that set toxic smoke into their community. one woman told us she's upset about a federal finding that chevron did not properly monitor a pipe. >> it's a federal position, scandal has broke. i want to know what chevron has to say for themselves. >> earlier today chevron's general manager confirmed that the likely cause of the august 6th fire was pipe corrosion. at least one person has died in a brush fire burning in san diego county. police officials say they found the body of an 82-year-old man. the fire started yesterday near the u.s. border. it's now 40% contain and had still threatenings dozens of other homes. investigators are still looking into what caused it. . parts of contra costa county

. it's a big week for the bike ride in san francisco known as critical map. this marks 20 years cycles first hit the streets on map. wide range of activities is scheduled throughout the week including daily bike rides and a concert. critical mass ride on friday night and organizers say it should be one of biggest ever people coming from all over the world to take part. well, last week we were saying how it felt more like fall instead of summer but here we are at the beginning of fall and it feels more like. >> summer.
